30 minutes into my first fishing trip to Tawakoni I hooked into the largest catfish by far that I have ever caught on any jugline, trotline, much less rod and reel. Too late for a photo. Sitting in my tent listening to the rain. Will try to get it weighed tomorrow. For sure will be getting a picture unless the alligator gets it tonight. So stoked. Gonna be hard to sleep.

If you have a tape measure get the length and girth of the fish then multiply GxGxW / 800 and you'll get the approximate weight of your fish. It's usually very accurate.

I'm exhausted due to little or no sleep so this will be brief. I set up camp at 5:00 pm on Thursday and walked to the lake with just a casting net two rods and a tackle box. Caught shad on first toss and set out both lines. Had a couple false alarms and then the big fella took a 4 inch shad and it was off to the races. I have never wrestled with anything close to 50 pounds but I guess I did alright. Made three runs when he saw the shoreline peeling off line like nothing. My rod was bent so far that the line was on the wrong side. Finally I got it close enough to get a hold and drag him up on the bank. Caught a 14 pound blue that put up a good fight too. The big fella was a 48 pound Flathead. I have photos but that's gonna have to wait until I get my laptop to a wifi place. That's all.folks.
