Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Welcome to the forum. I think you will find most guys on here are more than happy to help a new guy get started. A word of warning. I have only been fishing for these little critters for three years and I can tell you they are a constant source of frustration. I sure to love chasing them though. I am totally addicted to the thump.
Don't go buying a bunch of Rods, Reels, Line, and Baits until after you talk to the guys on the forum. It will save you a bunch of money.
Good Luck and if you ever have a question, don't be afraid to ask.

I +10 what Dutch said.....
Listen to them is right, these fish can be frustrating, but they are fun to catch. And welcome to the forum.
Good Luck and if you ever have a question, don't be afraid to ask.

Good Luck and if you ever have a question, don't be afraid to ask. sorry I messed that previous post up pretty bad..... Anyway I absolutely agree with Dutch..IMO don't buy a real whippy rod, try to get something with moderate action, you're going to find you can't horse the bigger fish in, which I have learned on this forum, and remember these guys are out there fishing, instead of a Roger Willoughby, from "Man's Favorite Sport." That Tica rod I just bought is wonderful. It's not too heavy, not too light, it's just right.
