I've seen someone near me that is loading his kayak on a Kia Soul. Looks like, from driving by his setup, that there is a bike holder on the back to assist on loading the kayak on the roof. Just wondering if anyone else has any small suv type vehicles without roof mounts that have been able to easily put one on the roof going solo. Thanks.

I have yakima crossbars mounted on the factory siderails on my ford escape. I also installed a yakima boat loader assist bar that works very well for loading by yourself. I load my cuda 14s with no problem at all.

I have a Scion xB with a set of Rhino Racks and a "Roller Loader" that suction cups to the back glass and has a pair of straps that hook to the top of the rear hatch and it is fairly easy for me load and unload my Slayer 12 by myself.......with the gear that I leave in it all the time I figure it weighs about 85 lbs........

Inflatable racks are also an option. Talk with ETBA or Wafflejaw about loading kayaks on smaller cars/SUVs. I top load on an Escape and use crossbars, saddles in front and glide pads in the back. If you want to see a lot of options check out Mariner Sails on Stemmons in Dallas. They carry a lot of transport options and will show you how they work as well as getting the right fit for your vehicle.
