I took my 6yo and 4yo out Sunday night and the fishing was on fire. At one point out of 40 casts, we reeled in 40 fish. Nothing too big but all keepers. We were throwing them back as fast as we caught them. The boys were really excited because we don't get out that often. This was my 4yo's first trip with his big brother.

After the first 20 fish, another boat fishing in the area decided to drive right through the school no less than 10 feet from our boat. My oldest said, why is that guy right where we were fishing? I had to explain that LL is like that, so we will just go somewhere else. We moved out about 300 yards away to another school blowing up. You don't even have to guess what happens 20 minutes later. This time he gets 5 feet from the boat, and close enough to jump in! 30 seconds later the fish went down and never came up. It was getting late so we decided to head in.

Had I been by my self, the story would have been a little different. I really don't understand how somebody can be so clueless.

My 4yo can't stop talking about how many fish we caught. Looking back, I am glad he is talking about ALL the fish instead of his dad yelling at some guy in another boat.

The lake is low so be careful out there.

That really isn't cool for people to do that. I had guys looking down their noses and trash talking our boat and us using a net to bring short fish aboard and taking pictures on our last trip to Medina Lake with my 9yo. Like you,had my boy not been there, I would have probably ended up in jail. We were having a good time. Just don't understand people some times. Black bass people.
Great job catching, they'll get theirs some day.

Thats the way many people are nowdays, you can see it in every day life. People on the roads drive like they are the only people that matter and everyone else is in their way. Those @#%& in the boat have the same attitude- you were in their way to their fish that only they are entitled. sad that there arnt many manners or consideration. Hard to, but try to lead by example. Glad you did with your boys- very impressive.

I grew up on Lake Dallas (I still hate calling it Lake Lewisville). It used to be a good lake, but all the Dallas/Frisco D-bags have taken over. I won't even consider fishing that lake on the weekend. Too many yuppies, d-bags & rental boats. My favorite is the folks in the monster boats who roll thru making huge wakes. I've got a 17' skeeter and nearly got flipped once. That was it for me.

Glad your had a great time. I admired you for biting your lips with those idiots screwing everything up. Great example you set. I had an incident also on the same lake. I took my dad with me to crappie fish. First time for him to crappie fish with me in the boat. We were fishing a brushpile and two boats, (they know each other) came toward us. I was baffled at this point. Apparently they got their names on the brushpile. Two feet from us fishing. I looked at them and they continued to act like I was in their a area. WTH! With my dad I was utmost patience and relocated to different area. Now if my dad wasn't their I would had some choice of colorful words for them. No manners, courtesy, or consideration at all!

Sounds like you had a fantastic day with your boys. Some super memories were made for sure. fish

Side Note: As for the inconsiderate angler. You did the right thing especially with your boys being present. The good parts of your trip totally outweighed the inconsiderate anglers actions. Again super job Dad and keep those boys fishing. You will never go wrong. cheers

It makes you wonder if the folks who think they own certain spots on the lake are on TFF. I'd love to hear their justification.

It is just going to get worse. I had a guy yesterday morning that was passing someone in the right lane at about 15 over speed limit. Bad part about it was he was approaching a bridge and on ramp and knew it. I just merged right in front of him and forced him back to the left. Not something I would do every day but after the trucker just blatantly ignored a red light shortly before I was in a mood.

I'm glad Joe Pool is not that popular a lake. I seldom see more that a few boats fishing during the week.

Weekends, the jet skiers and water skiers can be a pain at the upper end but are not so bad at the lower end.

So what's wrong with politely telling the guy where he has gone wrong??? How else will he learn if someone doesn't tell him he just scattered the fish by motoring thru them? I think there is a tactful, polite way to do this so:
A. The guy Learns a valuable lesson
B. Teach your kids right from wrong.
C. Maybe this won't happen so much in the future.

Just my 2 cents...

Well if you would of politely said something most likely something ignorant would come back out of his mouth. I would have a hard time not taking it to the next level after that. You did the right thing.

It's no different in the bays. My wife and I had just stealthily come up to a spot where redfish were tailing by California hole and a boat at full speed almost ran into our parked boat. Never a signal of sorry. Total inconsiderate morons fishing everywhere.

How about the ramps? I was trying to load at Robertson Park a couple weeks ago and there was a fat [censored] with his ratty old pontoon parked right on the ramp prepping to back in. By prepping I mean he was taking off his tie downs, loading his cooler, etc. I beached my boat (fishing alone), walked to my truck and pulled around. He was still there! Other folks were using the right side to load/unload. By the time I could back my trailer down, he was working on his motor. Apparently it wouldn't start. Mind you he was still on the ramp. When I got loaded and back into my truck to pull up, his wife in the tow vehicle looked over at me and I said "You might want to suggest to your husband that next time y'all get ready up there...there is a line of people waiting on you." She looked at me like I just spoke to her in Mandarin.
