Is there anywhere around Arlington that sells minnows by the pound? Or around DFW area within an hour or so of Arlington?

My wife refuses to fish with jigs.

I would like to buy one of the minnow boxes from Cabelas and buy them by the pound to keep them at the slip for her.

You can buy minnows by the pound in Lewisville. There is a wholesale place on Mill St. and Valley Parkway. The number is 972.436.2642. $15.00 a pound.

Thank you. That is about $2.00 a dozen, when you factor in the gas if you buy 5 lb at a time.

Saving is definitely worth the trip, as she uses around two-three dozen a trip. She wants them live and active on her hook.

I took her my jigs were just as alive as her minnows as I moved the line. The glare she give me shut me up. smile

But the main problem is we can't depend on the marina to have them, as they often sell out. They state they don't buy too many at a time as they die due to the heat.

That is a good price by the dozen. The marina charges $3.00 for small, $3.50 for medium when they have them to sell. My wife prefers small for crappie.

A pound averages 8 doz medium, 10 doz small. Or it did in 1987 when I was buying them by the pound at a bait shop east of Dallas on Hiway 80.

Thanks for the information.
