I got some samples made for chenille and one I tried to get close to was Junebug which I know is a great color for bass on some lakes like Sam Rayburn, but what about for crappie? I do not know so that is why I am asking and here is a jig I tied using the sample chenille I had made. I do have one more a little different for the same imitation. Opinions please! Should I have it made or no?

I don't know how well it will catch crappie but that is one great looking jig. So it caught me. Or at least my interest.

Go for it Skip! I've used junebug powder paint on several jig patern's ang fish them with some success often. In Winter, especially when fishing the bridges, shades of purple including grape & junebug are killer! These have a junebug head & purple chenille. Caught a lot of crappie last January with it.

I did well this morning on the first trial run with this jig. I don't know if that's junebuggy enough, but the fish seemed to enjoy it.

I made one of those up last night and fished it. Last spring I caught about about 300 keepers on the junebug slab slayer. It was an awesome color with a ruby red head or a pink head.

Skip, I've found most of the good bass colors are killers on crappie as well. Chartreuse originally came out as a spinner bait color I believe. Was a big hit for the bass guys. Back about '77 I got some polar bear in chart, using a red head jig and still catch crappie on that color. That was a killer then and still is.

Thanks you guys for the feed back and nice comments! I do appreciate it!
Ken I have found the same thing, but had never tried Junebug and not sure what made me try to get close to that color with Chenille, but I figured it would at least be good on lakes Junebug was good on bass.
I can't wait to decide on what new colors to keep and get ordered in quantity.

Paint the head yellow with a purple strip like on a football helmet and call it LSU.

Paint the head yellow with a purple strip like on a football helmet and call it LSU. OH no no no, can't use LSU as name for a jig, I found that out the hard way. Had some guys that started betting on games between their schools and one was Ark. and One LSU and who ever lost had to buy the other jigs from me using their school colors. I ended up making several school color jigs over a couple years a all was good until I got contacted by a Law Firm which told me I had to stop using their name and even threw in a couple other schools I had listed. Clearly they didn't appreciate me calling jigs by a name using their school name, LOL! So I say No No No can't use LSU no mo!
