 Barred Owl Juvenile, all growns up, in Dallas

I posted some video of this owl as a baby, now it's hunting on it's own and becoming the awesome predator it was born to be. It still has a little bit of a baby face to it but you have to really look hard to see it. This Barred Owl still lacks the adult "who cooks for you" hoot. It's working on it though. I have been following 3-4 sets of Barred Owls this spring on the Trinity River and White Rock Creek.

Awesome! I have a Horned Owl living in a huge Oak Tree just down from my house. Love hearing it at night! Nice job on the video and thanks for sharing.

Awesome! I have a Horned Owl living in a huge Oak Tree just down from my house. Love hearing it at night! Nice job on the video and thanks for sharing. Great Horned Owls are pretty cool birds. They are more reserved and refined it seems than the Barred Owls. Barred Owls act like Jack Russell Terriers. Always active, always animated, always protecting their space.
