Ok so Im old school and stubborn. Never tried drop before until today. FIshing buddy and I take boat out on Roberts this morning. Mainly to make sure everything is working ok b4 the Mcdonalds. Saw what I thought was sandies busting top of water over some grass in 4ft of water. Through a fluke in there and got bit twice by bass. Just took my braid off reel and tried 100 flouro. Not good at setting hook hard again and missed both. Turned to my buddy and said Im going to try this drop shot, until I catch a fish. SO I rig it up, you know little hook like Im perch fishing. Mainly to target small bass. FIRST CAST I reel up slack and all I feel is chomp chomp chomp. Because of the early misses I laid down hard and thought I was wrapped or hung up. No I reeled in a 7lb toad my pb on Roberts. All I could think about was that little hook. She was hooked dead center top of mouth and was not getting away. Good thing you got some confidence in the drop shot your probably going to need it at fork lol.

Way to go on your PB at Roberts. Fished Fork last Friday (the 13th by the way). No fish. Had a few bites. Fished up north in the grass early and back south till noon. Talked to others not having any luck. Best part was the cheeseburger and fried pie at the Y'all Come Back Caf in Emory. Good luck on fork and watch those stumps. Just like Roberts, lots of Widow Makers!

I too just tried the drop shot for the first time, and all I expected was dinky little bass. Well I have caught a couple of those, but it's the two 6 pounders that have me believing there might be something to this.

Congrats on the catch! I too am trying to learn how to fish the drop shot. Still have not been successful. Hard to break my T-rig mind set.

Thanks for the response Crank. BTW your my favorite TFFer now. Love the videos. Hope you get to come to Texas sometime and experience the water here, but looks like NC is all you need. Take care.
