first day out and very impressed so far!!! for the type of fishing that I do you couldnt ask for more. The spot lock is the bomb! I would idle toward spot...drop the trolling motor...get to desire location.....engage spot lock......and smile smile......and smile some more.......

I only fish for largemouth and mostly ledges, humps, brush, off shore structure......I havnt been with in 300 yards of the bank since early Feb.

spot lock was the only reason I bought the unit and I think its worth it already. more time fishing....less time fighting the wind.

I would agree, got mine out a few weeks ago and would never want to go back. I invite friends often and if I had to help them out before I never got to fish myself if it was windy. Now everyone has a good time!

Sure if you navigate stump fields often it's not ideal but like you I fish offshore 90%-95% of the time and for that it's golden.

Do you find the 45 inch shaft to be long enough? I have been trying to decide which length to buy and I don't want to get one that's too short.

Up north I was on guide trip using a Ranger 622 with iPilot. the functionality is really really nice for offshore. I wish they would come up with one heavy duty as Fortrex with iPilot.

I got the 60" and was glad I did. If you're fighting wind/waves the extra depth can be handy.

45" inch shaft has been fine for me so far. Haven't needed to drop it all the way down yet. If I had to drop my 45" Terrova all the way down and it was still bouncing out of the water in the waves I need to be fishing somewhere else. I don't find it much fun to fish in big rollers even if the TM would hold the boat in the wind.

One perhaps overlooked aspect of a long TM shaft is the TM head will possibly hang-out over the side of the hull when TM is not deployed depending on how the TM is mounted. Gotta be careful not to damage it on trees and docks, etc. with it sticking out of the side in that case.

Glad it works for some of you guys. But Man I don't like mine. I hate having a hand remote - gets in the way constantly. I feel like I wok harder with it. Way more comfortable with a pedal. Plus there is no handle to hold on to to deploy or bring it in. I'm not a fan. Just my opinion.

I just about there with you. I loved mine at first but now it seems so noisey and the remote is a pain. The only time I like mine is in open water with the spot lock.
