I just couldn't wait any longer to take my lil man, Gunner, fishing, so loaded him up yesterday. He is not 3 yrs old yet, so I wasn't sure how he would do, or how long he'd wanna stay. Started off letting him try and reel a few in, then I started setting the depth on a little 5' rod right above brush, to avoid hang ups, and surprisingly he would sit right beside me and hold it still. I looked over after I pitched one in livewell, and his rod was bowed over. He was holding on, so.i reached under his hands and gave it a set, then he reeled it in and I netted. Had no idea it was gonna be a good one.

I was so excited, hard to put in words, definitely something I will never forget, and so was he. Probably one of my most favorite fishing trips. Ended up keeping 10 good ones. And little man wasnt ready to go home. Got in truck, and he started asking 'when we going deer hunting daddy?' I got me a good partner now. Pretty special to me. Oh he got him a sand bass too that stripped drag. He was ready to move spots if no fish were produced pretty quick, and he liked 'giving the crappie more water' (flipping on Livewell pump).

He likes sunkist soda, obviously I let him have a few.

Tipps, you are a blessed man. That will forever be etched in your mind. Keep him fishing and hunting and you will never have to worry about him. My Dad was my best friend. I miss him and all the fishing and hunting trips we went on. Sunkist sodas are good for the soul too. thumb

That's awesome! You need to post this picture for the TFF cover on the month photo. My son isn't that much younger than yours and I can't wait to take him fishing. You're a good dad creating memories for your son.

Mine started a little later (almost 4), but he didn't really got into it until when he was about almost 7. I am so blessed and thus I can relate to your feelings... Congrats to you and a fine young angler!!!!
