I'm thinking of keeping a bay boat down at the coast and trying to decide where (what town) to keep it. I'll primarily be bay fishing but would like to hit jetties and inshore from time to time. The only areas I've fished are around Rockport and Port A, and that was a few years back. I've never been to Port Lavaca, Port O'Connor, Seadrift, etc.

I'll be fishing from the boat. Not big on wading anymore.

The boat will probably be on a trailer but I haven't ruled out keeping it in a marina.

What inputs do you guys have as far as pros/cons of the different areas? Fishing quality, access to jetties/inlets, crowds, etc?

thanks

I like the area around Seadrift. You would need a flats boat.

Palacios might be another option. West Matty gives a lot of options. Same with POC, or Lavaca.

Buy something nice enough and you can keep it at my house in Seadrift. Just leave the keys in it also...

How can I pass up that offer? I assume I should keep the tank full, too?

Try this place in aransas pass. I've eaten at the restaurant there (great food by the way) and the boat storage looks great.

If you didn't want my offer...
What you'll want to think about is how far down the road do you really want to drag your boat around. Then it's someplace *here* and they're killing them *there*...

There's a decent storage lot in Luling on 183, which is the way to here or there...there's several in Seadrift, which is still somewhat convenient if you want to keep heading down to Rockport, or go on to POC or Charlies. I have no personal knowledge of any of them, but they are popular.

What also is always a thought is when a big storm comes, if it's really close to the coast will you go save your boat?

This is really a great offer. I would go for it at Surfside. I don't use my boat enough, and have to pay to rinse it off before I put it in the boat barn at $75 a month.

We keep our boat at RedfishBay in Aransas Pass and are very happy. There are cheaper ways but it is nice to call and have the boat in the water with ice in the chest and when we come in just gather our personal gear and they pull it out, clean it and flush the engine before putting it back in the storage cradle.
