Labor day weekend last week Armadillomojo and I hit the Brazos and while any day on the river is a good day, the holiday weekend crowds and low river made for tough fishing. I went back yesterday for a little redemption and had a better day. I have never been a serious bass fisherman but I am starting to get it down. Got a few decent ones all right at 18"-19". I have caught larger but not on purpose or targeting them so I was pretty proud of these respectable catches.

They seem bigger til you break out the tape measure or upload the pics at home smile
Guess I need to get a trough

This little guy looked like a zombie bass. injured eye and pitch forked tail

need to work on the selflies..

all released with nothing but their feelings hurt..

I switched things up and tried to put a couple of cats in the icebox. the gar can make that a frustrating task. finally got a couple

Speaking of gar, they gave me such a hard time I decided to try and land one just to show them who's boss. it's a game of patience. lots of runs and a couple of brief hook ups with some decent size fish but this is the only one I got to the boat.

at least I could leave with my head held high...

Joe, I dont know what changed in a week except the amount of people on the water...It was actually still pretty tough... I know this would normally be a slow day for you guys that really know what your doing down there.

Nice catches - wtg. I've caught a ton of 20" fish that only measured 17-18".

It's like they shrink up when you pull them out of the water : )

Yeah there was a few guys down there that Friday with pitch forks stabbing the fish must of been one of the victims.. I wasn't to happy about that and their kayaks were full of fish.

Really...That's no good. I usually leave well enough alone but that would have granted a call to the game warden.

I can't see that happening with anything but carp. The fish I caught was more likely a victim of a bird or disease.

Those gar have been frustrating me for months. After several 6-8 hour outtings attempting to catch one, I finally landed a nice one... on accident. Snagged a ~50" longnose in the underside of the mouth trolling a crankbait for striper haha.
