Curious about what oil everyone uses. Thinking about buying in bulk to sell to clients around Fork and surrounding lakes. No promises, but hope that by buying in bulk, the price for y'all might drop a bit. Just need the motor and oil you use please. Pm me if you have any questions.

Ever wonder why motor oils are so expensive? You would think that it is harder to refine crude oil into gas than it is crude oil into motor oil... A barrel of crude oil (42 gal) refine into 19 gal of gas... Yet a gal of gas is cheaper than a gal of oil... Another supply and demand kind of deal, maybe?

Supply and demand for regular motor oil, for a brand like Mercury you are being charged extra because it is going into a boat engine. I wonder if there is any real difference between the "recommended for your boat engine" oils and brand name oil for your car. I loved my last deep v with the Volvo inboard engine in it. All parts were the same as a car engine so the cost of maintaining it was much lower. But flushing out the engine and drive after every trip on salt water was a pain.

I have used the Wal-Mart made by Chervon in my boat for 28 years...
Oh and the price of oil is high due to speculation and nothing else... Not demand we are actually consuming less right now.

I buy my oil 5 gallons at a time from Taylor Oil in Fort Worth, they are a Chevron Distributor - I try to give as much support to Honey Hole magazine as I possibly can. I love that show! I record every episode.

I always wondered if all the oil doesn't come out of the same refinery. I also wondered if labels made it cost more than other labels.

I have used walmart oil in my boat since it was purchased in 1993, so 20 years, and have never had an engine related problem. I've broken a drive shaft and a prop shaft, and electrical problems, but never anything related to the engine. It meets TC-W3 specs, and only $12.15 a gallon. And heck, the Crappie Professor uses it, so it must be good!
