Hope to get some replies as well. I'm looking to do some trout fishing here this winter and will be tent camping as well. I've never been but heard it was a great place.

56 tent sites - $12. per day per tent, water and bathroom in area. All First-Come-First-Served. No reservations accepted on tent sites.
on the river below the lake in the state park a lot of the tent sites are right on the river, do not know how nice the bathrooms are, but good looking camp sites

Anybody been right after Christmas/right after New Years? Is it pretty easy to show up and get a camp site?

That deep into the off season, you could probably get some prime sites.

Look at the section for RV's. These have water and electric. They usually have open sites even in the summer time we have been able to get a spot. We tent camp and it is a very nice area.

Anybody been right after Christmas/right after New Years? Is it pretty easy to show up and get a camp site? It depends. If it's the weekend right after they've stocked trout you better get there early.

Hey guys. Anybody been during spring break? Is it usually crowded? I would like to take my boy up next week for a couple nights tent camping but don't know if I want to drive 3 hours if there may not be any tent sites available when we get there. Thanks.

just got back from Beavers Bend yesterday and yes it is crowded. All the RV sites were full for two straight weeks. However, the tent areas look to have room so give them a call and find out.
Absolutely loved the park. There is a little something for everybody.
If you fish pay attention to which zone you are in. Game Wardens monitoring the Red zone very closely to see what people are using.
On Friday AM I fished without a soul in sight from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. By Saturday afternoon it was shoulder to shoulder on the river.
I'd also add, take the kid to Grateful Head for some pizza. Cool place w/ pretty good pizza. Nice patio with a live band. My girls (2 & 8) really enjoyed playing with the dump trucks in the dirt by the patio.

Broken Bow is great. Grew up in Idabel so know the area well. If you like to fish, however, try Pine Creek Lake north of Valiant. A very good fishing lake. Fish on the Pine Creek arm and stay at the Corp. park by the dam if in a camper. Before moving my camper to Fork, I went up there all the time and always caught a lot of redear and catfish. Nice campsites, too. You don't hear a lot about this lake because the locals keep it to themselves, but I can assure you it is where they go fishing.

Thanks for the info. So how was the fishing, ou sooner? Obviously my 6 year old won't be using a fly rod so any suggestions on bait and how to fish it? Looking forward to it, maybe it will thin out towards the end of the week. Heading out Thurs morning. Fishslime, I will look into Pine Creek as well. Keeping my options open in case I call Thurs morning & they say I will have a hard time finding a tent site. Thanks.

Just be sure the Corp. parks are open if you go to Pine Creek. They close during the winter and not sure when they reopen.
