What are the best ones to buy for night time fishing? Most dependable and how do you use them? Battery direct? Thanks Junior

You have asked some hard questions. Based on my research the most dependable ones are the ones made here in the U.S. They are also the most expensive so how much do you want to spend?
Bass Pro has 21" green light tubes for $25.00. They have mixed reviews, with some stating they did not last more than a few days or months at most. Other people claimed they had used them without any problems. So you take your chance and hope for the best.
I have bought two 16' 5050 LED light strips that I am going to install under the deck of my pontoon. I have read good results in various forums about installing them this way. I will be installing them this weekend so I will know one way or another in a few weeks.
I am going to place an inline fuse between the lights and my battery. I don't like installing anything direct without a fuse in the positive side of the power source.
I do know that a light source will attract bait, which normally attracts other fish. I have used the headlight type floating lights in the past with good results. From what I have read the green LEDs are even better at attracting bait fish.
So I plan on anchoring where I want to fish and turn on the green LEDs. I will spend some time at the spot to give the lights time to attract the fish. If you are one of those people who can not sit still then lights probably will not work for you.
I also plan on leaving the lights on at my slip when the pontoon is there. Hopefully overtime that will attract fish to the slip when the weather is too bad to risk going out.
Hopefully somebody will respond who has the lights installed and can give you up to date information. You can also learn a lot by doing a search on LED lights and submersible lights in this forum. There are a lot of threads about this subject and most of them contain good information.

You want the best, get the one I have. I bought the 30 LED Drop light and it puts out more light than any I have ever used, by far and I have tried a lot of lights. I posted about these a while back on here. Also pretty sure there is a 2 year warranty. Cree makes the best and brightest LED lights in the world. I feel sure a search will find the thread on the lights. http://loomisled.com/

http://www.thegreenmonsterfishinglight.com/I saw some of these at a dock in Possum Kingdom this past week. Caught several sandbass in the lights before the dock owner complained so much I called it a day. They definately work. The green area was working alive with minnows and shad. Bluegills were everywhere. Sand bass were darting in and out of the lights constantly. I'm sure if there would have been crappie in that area we would have caught them as well.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Don't get the ones from Academy! I bought 2 different cheap ones - both are dead! You get what you pay for I suppose.

I used these green LEDs strips on my Jon for six months and my live well is still thanking me. Couldn't be happier with their results catching crappie and the low power they pull on my batts. And most importantly the price for 24' of LEDs did not break the bank. I've got alot of threads on this site with proven results. Check out the link on my signature. 1st class tackle. I tried to put them under the boat I had better results bring bait to the surface with the reflection off the top of the water. Also caused crappie to come up in the water colum to post up under the boat and take my jigs. The LEDs are waterproof so u could try anyway u would like

Thanks Yes as long as you have a battery and a way to hold it under water it sould work, but the bank would need deep water near by I would think in summer. Skip

Also the strips are no way as bright as the lights I posted a link to. Ask each Mfg. what brand of LED's they use and that should tell the story because if not Cree LEDs then not as bright and not made as well. This light has a 2 year warranty. Plus you can have it 12' or deeper when in use. He says heck drop it to the bottom if you want. Research what you buy a little and you will be happier in the long run!
