I need to buy a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton to haul. Always have owned 1/2 ton trucks with gas engines. I have heard too many bad things about the 6.0 and 6.4 Ford Diesel engines. I'm wanting a 6.7 which takes me to a 2011 and later model. My question is, I'm I better to own a 100,000 mile 2011 F350 or a 60,000 mile 2008 F350? Roughly the same money.

Well the 6.7 will get better mpg but which ever you buy get the extended warranty! To replace the high pressure fuel pump on the 6.7 it cost between $10,000 - $12,000 and there have been a few to fail well under the 100k warranty. Tough call, I'd go find a 5.9 Cummins if I were you.

By the way I have a 2012 F350 with the 6.7 and had a 2005 5.9 Cummins, I wish I had kept the Dodge. I had bought this truck thinking I'd keep it for 10-15 years but after reading alot of post of 2 different diesel forums I will now trade it in before I run out of warranty.

Word is the 6.7 powerstroke is good but it has not been out long enough to know for sure. It will take time to know if its a good engine.

go with the 6.7, but the 5.9 is a great engine if you want a older truck. Don't get a ford diesel from 2004-2010 they all suck before 2004 the 7.3 engine is great.

Can you recommend one of the diesel forums you mentioned?

That's where I draw the line... a 10-12k dollar fuel pump? No way that part is worth that much. I could put 2 new gas motors in a pickup for that much.

Yep, everything has to be replaced from the tank all the way to the motor, injectors & all. I may have bought my last diesel as well.

Here is a diesel forum.

Could I interest you in a 06 f350 with 60k miles I know you are scared of them but for 18k it's a good deal.
