Guys and gals keep your head into what your doing while driving your boat! Today some guy actually hit a bridge column just across from my house and that was not all, it threw his wife out of the boat and she got hit by the prop. I am not sure how many places she was hit, but at least one large like 6"x6" out of her upper back. She was bad enough that they didn't want to move her to the helicopter pad at the fire station which is probably only a couple miles from the boat ramp. So they had the chopper land right there at the ramp to air lift her.
Can't imagine having something like that happening! So be safe and keep alert on the water guys and gals!

Hate to hear news like this. Good advice common since and good judgement is a must while on the water. Prayers sent for the victim and her family. Hope she pulls through.

By all means, may God Bless her, sounds like she need some help from God! I sure hope she makes it, but I was shocked that they didn't even want to move her 2 miles and had to bring the chopper to her.

Yes it was avoidable and the room under that bridge is not a tight space at all so it's just a matter of taking it slow and being careful and alert.
I don't know how she was riding in the boat, but I have to say don't let people ride sitting in the fishing seats up on the front or rear deck, it's just not safe. I can't tell you how many boats I see fly by with someone still sitting up in the seat on the front deck. My wife and I were talking about that yesterday after this accident and wouldn't you know it the next boat I see ride by had someone sitting up front in that chair. For you that have never seen Toledo Bend this was a National Forrest before flooded in the late 1960's and most of the trees have either fallen over or like most just broke off below the water surface so it's always dangerous here if you don't know where your going, see it all the time some fool running across where I know he's just missing trees and getting lucky with out knowing. its never a good idea to not be alert and paying attention all the time you are running here. So many have died here on this lake especially some that fall out of their boats in winter time or trying to run trot lines by their self on rough water. It's just not worth it to take chances on the water. There have also been some that drowned other than winter time so just keep you head in the game all the time!

Thanks guys, I have no clue who she is, but I know she was in bad shape. Also don't know how many other chunks were cut out of her, but I do know that was so avoidable and just a shame. May God Bless her. I will see if I can learn any more, but since I don't even know her name it may not be easy. I sure would hate to be her husband knowing that was my fault.

Hello guys! I witnessed this from the ramp in my boat along with a buddy in his boat. We were the only boats at the ramp. I towed them to the beach. It was a terrifying tragedy that definately couldve been avoidable.
My wife and I and my buddy and his wife were coming in from fishing to take a lunch break at about 10:30. We beached the boats to let the wives off to back the trailers down when we heard a boat roaring on the other side of the bridge, next thing you know we hear wreckage and see the boat ping ponging in circles through the pilings. My buddy witnessed the passengers get ejected. i didnt see the ejection from where i was. We both backed up and headed to thebridge. my buddy was first and hollered call 911 then turned around there were 2 people walking towards the bridge that i pointed at to call 911. As my buddy turned around i still headed to the people, once i cleared the point i saw the man pulling his wife from the water into the boat. The gashes were very bad, i wont go into too much detail. i proceeded to the boat, i recognized the man and asked what happened and to throw me a rope so i can get them to the beach quickly. He said throttle got stuck. Once we got them to the beach I jumped from my boat, to make sure she was responsive and stayed with her until helped arrived. The FD was first on the scene, then paramedics, sheriff, and game wardens. I stayed and assisted to the best of my ability with anything they asked. once we got her from the boat to the ground I continued to comfort her while holding the oxygen mask. She then left by helicopter. I do know the Man, but will not mention their names as Im not sure if its been released publicly yet. The last word i got is that she is in ICU in galveston, heavily sedated and was going into surgery today.
This was a very tragic accident that could have been prevented by contolling speed, WEARING YOUR KILL SWITCH STRAP, and alertness. God put us there at that very time for a reason, I am glad to say that we were there to respond. We may very well have saved a life.
BE SAFE OUT THERE GUYS!!
