Go to Latonka or Elmer Thomas near Lawton. Both are fun to fish and have smallies

This is an article about Lake Lugert...sorry to hear it is effectively dead as a fishery..low water and golden algae have taken its toll, I grew up in that area and loved going to that lake ..sorry to see its demise from what used to be a great fishery and lake.

I was there 5 years ago and was throwing a watermelon red tubes, and a chatter bait. Absolutely killed them there. But now it is sad to see it go downhill from there. I like to fish rock and that was the lake I look forward to every year.

I used to live in Granite and grew up there. Used to catch some good stringers off the rocks this time of year with a spinnerbait. In fact my dad caught his personal best there about 15 years ago. But then the lake level started staying low all the time and the fishing wasn't no where near as good the last several years as it was when I was a kid. It wasn't no big deal to catch a good stringer in the spring time over there on the north part of the lake when the lake was full 15 years ago. Lake hasn't been that full but once or twice since.

I live here currently. All the fish are dead and the lake smells a bit. I do all my fishing on Elmer Thomas or lawtonka. Lawtonka is good for the family! If you have any questions or concerns give me a PM and I will help you out. Iv been stationed here for 2.5 years so I know the area pretty well
