What is the main differences in the SX or the ZX? I am looking at an SX but I've heard that you can't put t jack plate on it. Is this true and what are the other differences? Thanks, Dave

Wood is in the construction of the SX, ZX is newer hull design.

It really depends of the year model. Skeeter used the SX (single console) and DX (dual consoles) models beginning in the early 90s as their flagship model. The ZX came out in 1994 and replaced the SX and DX models. All of these have wooden transoms. In 1996, a year before Yamaha Corp purchased Skeeter, they began using composites in the boat and the model was noted with a c at the end, i.e. ZX190c. The SX was renamed the SS and still used wood in the transoms. In the early 2000s, Skeeter renamed the SS back to the SX and began using composites in the transoms while maintaining the ZX series as the top model. In the mid 2000s Skeeter introduced the FX series and later the I series, which are now the top models. The SX today is now the TZX series, which has borrowed the name from the former ZX190 Tournament Special. Skeeter began using the Torque transfer (aluminum) in their ZX models after 2001. The best ZX models to own are the ZX185c (18.5 1997-2000), the ZX195c (19.5 1997-2000), and all years and models after 2000. The ZX185 is the same as the ZX190, and the ZX195 is the same as the ZX200, then you have ZX202, ZX210 which are the over 20 models. You can install a jack plate on the SX, just dont exceed 6 of setback (this is my from my experience only). I ran a 200DX for years with a 200 EFI Merc and a 6 plate no problems.
