Think my transducer may not be working correctly on my 597 CI HD DI, anyone know how to check it.

If you have another ducer to hook it to like maybe if you have another or if a friend has one you could take the unit to and hook it up. Can you see visible damage to the ducer or to the cord ?

That's the problem, I have had this unit for 2 years and now during the day the unit stops displaying the bottom but still digitally reads the depth and temperature. If the unit is bad Humminbird will charge me close to $200 to repair and if it is the transducer it will be around $150 both of which I can't afford. I just hate that a unit that cost me $700 two years ago is gonna cost me more now.

My thru-hull ducer on my 1198c went out recently, no damage to cable or anything. Just stopped tracking depth. Luckily I had another portable unit and just plugged my spare ducer in to troubleshoot. the spare worked fine so I knew I had a bad thru-hull ducer. $80 later I'm back in biz.

Mine is doing the same thing, 798 HD DI, reads Temp and Depth but no switch fire or bottom or DI, I sent mine in under warranty. It would have been a hassle taking off my transducer and sending it in with it, that way it will rule out the transducer or unit when Humminbird tests it out. Ill let you know ASAP when i get mine back, should be next week!
