Well we had a biposy last week. At that time the dermatologist told us that what he has looks most like RDEB. RDEB is one of the most severe forms of EB with several sub categories ranging from pretty bad to probably the worst disease out there. Every doctor that has seen him since birth has said this same thing. The way the biopsy works is they rub on the skin and then cut out a chunk and send it to a lab and look at the skin seperation and determine how severe everything is. The doc called back yesterday and said the biopsy didn't show anything and gave us 3 possible reasons why. 1. He said it could have been that he didn't cut deep enough or rub the skin hard enough to cause seperation. But he said he rubbed so hard and cut so deep that his nurse was worried he was really gonna hurt Colt. He said this several times. (So that reason doesn't sound very likely and if he thought this was the case I think he would have ordered another biposy immediately) 2. He said Colt may have a way milder form than we first thought and/or it may be more localized and not going to effect his entire body like first thought. 3. There is something called TBDN which looks like EB but goes away on it's own usually during the first year of life. (The fact that he even mentioned this is surprising since this wasn't even a consideration for the last month). So he told us just to sit tight for the next couple of months and if anything changes let him know. He does want to do another biopsy at some point so he can pinpoint exactly what's going on. If Colt has certain forms of EB there is a 1 in 4 chance future kids will have it and this is the main reason they want to pin it down. Of course there is always reason number 4 and that is that God is healing him of this and everyone's prayers are working! .gif "angel") This is what we are praying for and believing!
