 Mercury outboard just quit

morning, 1988 50hp Mercury with tilt and trim. running around on the lake when it just quit. Plenty of gas, no sputtering or slow down, just quit like you turned the key off. there is no spark. thanks

Sounds electrical to me.....power pack maybe? I had a larger Mercury do a similar thing and I had no spark. It was a power pack which I replaced myself and had no more issues.

will it turn over with a bad kill switch? this boat has a kill/toggle switch behind a rubber boot.

it will still turn-over, just won't fire. Check the kill switch first...

It will still turn over with kill switch disconnected just won't fire, you also might check fuses on the motor itself to see if you blew one. Have had both problems on the little 50 hp mercury I use to have.
