Here's some pretty ugly unconventional poppers I tied the other day. Tied on a #8 kink shanked mustad popper hook, the bodies are 3/8 bottle stoppers from netcraft; bucktail wings, flashabou tail, with a couple of rubber legs. They are large enough to discourage the little brim from getting hooked; bass and big brim like them, especially this time of the year when there's so many crickets and grasshoppers around the banks; most of my daytime poppers are white; usually fish on my 3 or 4 weight rods-p-

I like what you did there. I drilled down to see that you seem have used mono thread to tie on the legs and hair. Nice! How did you finish them out?

don't know about the "oxy" jerry, but the "moron" part fits me to a "T"
Robin; the paint is acrylic Wal-Mart stuff; two coats; then 3 coats of polyurethane, and one coat of sally's hard as nails covering the threadwraps and body and bucktail ends; nothing like JB"s art work-p-

Nice poppers. Those have "bite me" written all over them. Now, go get your leader stretched! Mike

"Oxy-" Latin for stubborn or bullheaded...at least I think that's what it means.

Gene. The way you tied the hair to the body is how they did it way back when! Remember that classic swap we had on TFR? Love the eyes you did.

I expect that one has to hold one's tongue just right to get hair to stay situated properly when starting to tie it in.

Robin; its a trade secret but I'm gonna tell you because you keep me in good furled leaders. You take a drop, or a half drop of sally's hard as nails and pinch it and the end of the hair between thumb and forefinger, count to 10, then use other hand to remove hair; let it dry and it stays clumped together til the cows come home.
Yep, JB, I've still got some of those old flies from the 30's and 40's.
BTW, Cliff wants to know what outfit youre gonna be wearing for the dove hunt?-p-
