So i was wondrin...
What are some tips or hints that would help me have better success while bank fishing for bass?

When my grandpaw left, he left me his old plano, and that got me started on fishing. The problem is... i don't really know how to use most of the stuff in there. It's got a whole lot of worms, some spinners and some crank baits.

I can usually get a bite or two out of a worm if pull it in at different speeds, but whenever i try the pull and drop retrieve, i can't seem to get even a look! I don't know if its my speed or what.

As with the spinners and crank baits, i don't even know what styles of retrieve i should use for them. Suggestions?

Thanks guys,
Appreciate it!

I'd recommend reading as much as you can.
TFF has lots of good info and a good search function.
Other good info here:

Overall advice--be stealthy. Fish with one bait/one technique until you gain confidence in it before moving onto a different technique. As far as retrieve speed, start really slow, then gradually speed up to find what the fish want.

Read practice read. That's the only way to get better and learn. Ask other fisherman at the ponds or lakes too

Whats the forage base in the waters you are fishing? Look for this too and try to match the hatch. Try to wear neutral colors. If you can see the fish, they can see you. Look up the fan fishing technique. This is killer on banks.
As for techniques with these lures, what the other guys have said, research and practice. Try c-rgging the worms and dragging. Also try hopping it a few bursts, then let it sit for a few seconds. Use spinners around weedlines and in shallow water. Retrieve just fast enough for the blades to boil the surface. On the cranks, there is no wrong way to retrieve. Burn it in, crank and pause and repeat, bump the stumps or rocks, etc.
Just remember, in this heat, fish SLOW. Might try drop shotting a worm come to think of it.
