Headed to CC for a family trip and want to take my son out chasing the reds and trout. What time of day is optimal to be on the water?? Since mommy and little sister will be there as well, we don't want to neglect them and leave them at the hotel all day. If there is a preferred time of day would it be morning or evening??

Cracking dawn never sucks. The wind is usually slack, and the sight fishing and topwater opportunities make it best.

besides it's just beautiful that time of morning.

But if its a slack tide... i'd prefer a time when the tide is moving or have a wind driven current.

we did the family trip to galveston about a month ago. wife, daughter, son and I went for the week. we waited til after supper and the girls got settled in the hotel to hit the water. we always offered to take them but full bellies and laying around the room won out for the girls. i would suggest if you are not fishing the lighted piers is to bring a lantern and cheapo HF flashlights if the bite goes a little into the night. these are the ones we have been getting and if you sign up then they send coupons to get them cheaper. http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-portable-worklight-flashlight-67227.html
