Whats the easiest way to secure a 2x4 to a concrete slab? I'm gonna screen in our back porch and need to frame it out. Is there some type of glue i can use? I am certain the drill i have wont drill thru this slab to anchro it down.

get a 3/8" masonry drill and some of these, permanent and you don't have to drill in far to make them work. drill the hole and just drive them in till the pin is flush, expands at the bottom

use ramset anchors with glue as well. glue will create a water tight seal.

go buy some cut nails at home depot. They will secure the bottom plate. Use caulk to seal plate to concrete.

When they installed out cover over the front area, they used a hammer drill, to drill holes for the 4x4 then knocked it out with a sledge hammer and sit the 4x4 in and poured cement in the hole, they aint going anywhere

I used hopalong's method. Cement masonry bit with a piece of black tape to mark the depth. And a blowdryer to blow out the hole.

I use a hammer drill and a bit made for a hammer drill (important), then use the tap in anchors with the hex heads, tighten em down

I recently inspected a house in a neighborhood in Moore, OK were anchor bolts were not used in any houses on the street. I don't know how they passed inspection. The houses blew out from the bottom.

I have tried everything from a regular hammer and nail (guess how well that worked for me!) up to a ramset. Easiest I found was hop's method. Had to make sure I had a GOOD masonry bit, though. Once I did, it was a cakewalk. The ramset was easier, but I could only get 1 or 2 out of every 10 to work correctly so I gave up on it.

if you have nothing else you can drill a 1/4" hole with a masonry bit, place a dbled up pc of bailing wire in the hole clear to bottom then drive a 16 box nail into it. this will hold excellent but if it gets wet rusts out pretty quick. this is how we fasten dbl head form nails to concrete to hold forms.

I use larger sized Tapcon screws and an SDS drill. I drive them with an 18v impact.
