I heard a rumor that they planned to drop Lake Fork about 4 more feet,( and I am not talking about mother nature).
I can't believe with the lake as low as it is and the McDonalds tourney right around the corner that anyone would think this would be a good idea. Please tell me that this is just a bad rumor.

IN MY OPINION...sra cares about Dallas. Not fork. They care about their water, not tournaments. Wouldn't suprise me. Once again, IN MY OPINION. this is not fact, nor do I have any evidence of what sra cares about. Simple observation.

I dont think it is just a rumor. We talked to some guys from SRA back about a month ago about the pumps on Fork. He told us that they were about to finally crank them up and run them about two to three weeks to get all the bugs out. He also said they are going to shut down the pumps after that at Tawakoni to rebuild them. I do not know how much water they will pump but it will be noticeable water drop.

You may want to keep in mind if SRA did not invest a lot of money to build Fork so they could sale the water at some point you would not have a lake. We got to fish for about thirty years on their investment. This is just my opinion but maybe we should just be thankful for their investment for all this time time

Like it or not the first priority for any river authority is to supply the water districts to which its contracted for clean potable water, once its treated of course. Fishing is just a wonderful byproduct of that operation.

I was told by SRA as well. Pump should go online towards the end of the year. He told me that if indeed they do pump from Fork, that it would be a guaranteed 4 foot drop right off top.
Other than that, no rain and evaporation is wearing Fork out right now

I heard the last time they tried to crank up the pumps, they leaked like swiss cheese. So unless they have been working on them i dont think it will happen.

Sounds about right City of Dallas has rights for about 10'. I heard the last time they tried to crank up the pumps, they leaked like swiss cheese. So unless they have been working on them i dont think it will happen. No issues on the pumping station here at Fork. Tawkoni will be shutdown for at least 6 months for repairs so water has to come from some where. Anyone want to mow under my dock for me?

Guess it'd be time to plant some stuff on the shore for when it fills back up. Maybe even dredge up some of the silted in areas at the ends of coves.
