I would rather have it windy. It not only cools me off when I fish it breaks up the water surface and I think that helps out the fishing.
I use anchors a lot so the wind doesn't effect the way I like to fish.

Sometimes I hate the wind when I'm fishing plastics like weightless senkos and what not. But wind can be good for crankbaits

Remember, the wind is your friend! On the lakes that I typically fish, I let the wind determine where I'm going to fish. Sunny days and wind brings out the white spinnerbait bite. Also the wind keeps the bass from spooking so easily.

A reasonable amount of wind helps. Wind adds current and oxygen to the water-fish will be more likely to feed and will be more predictable (windblown points, etc). The water disturbance from the wind will decrease the fish's ability to see you, the line, etc, thus easier to catch.

Crappie (Texas slang Crappy) and Bass is all I need. See my name CrappyBassfishindude! Sounds crazy but I've caught lots of bass from the bank in 25mph winds with rattle traps. Crappie fishing is a lot different with winds.
