guys get back on subj.. we are not talking about wake boats we are talking about being accountable for your wake.

there is a law.. if you cause damage you are accountable.

i understand that the rec boats have their place but when you capsize another boat because of your inability to consider another and cause damage or worse, you are liable. food for thought... think about that next time you "buzz another boat" ..

most wake boats dont bother me... but the 80ft monstrosities on texoma throw a 3-5ft roller and they just keep on going.

You got a big ole set on you to be running 74 at night man!

Or a lot less than that between the ears

I kinda think this boils down to one of the things that makes USA great and at the same time not so great. It's like two kids playing together. All is well as long as they are getting along. When that is no longer working then rules must be set down. No one wants more rules/laws but that is the only way unfortunately IMO to manage the use of freedom when to exercise it causes harm to others. Most lakes you can float and run a Carnival Cruiser if you can find a way to get it to a launch and launch it. Running 74 at night with passengers will also raise risk if not harm others. Where should we start with the rulemaking ? Would I run 74 at night with passengers on a lake I was familiar with ? I would like to say no , but I can't guarantee it ? I only hope reading this thread will give me pause to gather my priorities and then govern myself accordingly

Lower the trim, stay steady on the gas and hold on....read the wake and it will all work out.

My wife wouldnt be happy with me if I was going 74 if she was in the boat to begin with! I will do that when alone or in a tournament ... not with my wife in the boat though.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Sometimes you have to know when you should slow it down a little.

The boats are made to throw a giant wake on purpose...why should they be held accountable?

Wes, I think most guys realize that all boats have a right to be on the water. The problem for bass fishermen is usually when they are not under power and a wake board boat or other large boat goes too close to you when you are obviously sitting still and they make a point to buzz you so they can show you how cool they are when there is a wide open lake with thousands of acres to run. One example would be if a fisherman is sitting at one end of a two mile long dam and a wake boat decides to run the entire two miles and wake you every time he passes. One would think that a mile and three quarters would be enough. But no, they want to run the entire two miles. Why? I would suggest that it is because they only think of themselves number one or are just plain arse holes number two or both. Can you think of a situation that bass fishermen intrude upon wake board waters and create problems for them? Thought not.

I ran out of Little Caney on Fork one day with my wife on board. I was approaching 72 mph when all of the sudden the boat paddle comes out of the rod box. From then on she was my chauffeur if she was with me. I had already taught her how to get it off and on the trailer so all I had to do was prep it and back it in so it worked out........

Like I said earlier, I should have known better than to run that fast on Texoma, especially in the middle of the day, won't happen again, I hope.

Most likely the outcome ain't gonna be pretty could even get plum nasty, so my advise would be to go ahead and kick up a notch to about 80, go ahead and have some fun before you check out

Probably should have been running 20 mph less.

Happened to a friend of mine last year fishing a tourney on Lewisville, nose of the boat pointed straight up at the sky and when they came down they were both ejected from the boat. Both ok, just a little sore for awhile. The Champion was totaled!

They did have jackets and kill switch engaged

I know that feeling well!! My dad and I came up on a boat wake only running about 50mph but had about a 25mph head wind and when we hit it the boat came out of the water and the wind kept the nose coming up and as all of the stuff in the trolling motor pedal tray came over our heads the back of the boat hit the water and got a nice shower from landing at such a steep angle that it sprayed water over us from the back of the boat. After it was all over the boats around us were yelling and cheering for us as it was obviously fun for them to watch. We also had the same thing happen in his 21' Baja on possum kingdom but we were running about 75mph that day.
