Started with a small section, sanded it, primed, taped and sprayed. Did the back skeg to start with or whatever you call the back point. The rear seems to be beat more that the keel. I will post the outcome after a few trips.

My tape didn't stick to the yak very well, makes me wonder about the bedliner.... I got some run from the bedliner and hope it holds. Here it is with the tape removed.. I almost want to tape again and spray my lines str8...

I guess the worst that happens is the bedliner just peels off but I hate the look of the paint run!!!

I tried to clean up some of the run but the stuff is stuck!!! I did heat it with a heat gun after spraying and I seriously doubt it is going to just wash off. Time will tell how durable it is

PP if the bed liner does not stick properly and you want to try it again.....pick up an aerosol can of "Bull Dog" adhesion promoter and follow the instructions on the can before you try to apply the bed liner again.....I paint cars for a living and use that product on a lot of bare plastic before I apply the various other substrates and topcoats required in refinishing......you can pick it up at most auto parts stores......

Spoiled, I'll try it if I have issues but I don't see adhesion being a problem. I find it weird that someone stated they could wipe it off with soap and water. I couldn't get my runs out with anything!! It's already set and hard, I'll give it a full two days before taking it out.
I will definitely buy some strong tape if I paint again. I didn't think my tape lines would lift!!!
Oh well, live and learn but the trial/experiment has begun. I'll take the yak out Friday evening and even give it a drag and post pics again for everyone. If it is anywhere near as good as the liner on my jeep floors, it will not break or chip off

adhesion is everything,

if it was me I'd put some 36 grit in an orbital sanded and lightly roughen up the yaks surface

I'd also research adhesion promoters, based specifically on the yaks type of plastic.

Whomever said they could wash it off must have had an oil coat applied before spraying on. I took a rag with soap and water to it this morning and nothing. It did tear my wash cloth. I think the bedliner will be good to go. Sure, I will have to respray it somewhere down the road but for cheap protection for a while, I think it will work. Going to do some dragging tonight while putting it back on the jeep. I would usually never drag my yak but I'm curious if it will protect it.

Yea, who knows what brand the guy used on it... And it must have lasted him at least a year or so.... But I definitely took a sponge and water, no soap needed and wiped it off. So maybe the difference is in brand????? Who knows...
