I honestly havent fished there much through the years, due to the fact that I would rather just fish Fork, but this past Sat I took my father in law out to Hawkins to get away from the weekend Fork crowds. I've always enjoyed fishing Hawkins, beautiful water, good vegetation and some quality bass. Never caught numbers there but it usually blesses me with a good one & Sat was no different. Caught this beauty just on the other side of the 2849 bridge. Caught her on the edge where the grass meets the pads (right above her tail in the pic). Using a beaver bait with an ounce bullet pegged. Not 10 casts before I boated this one I lost one equally as big if not bigger about 15 yrds away. Love the dark color of Hawkins bass.
