Ok the long awaited for vacation report..if not for y'all ,for me for sure.
Hold on to your hat sea pro Todd , cuz here it comes
Heading to Seattle tomorrow for 9 days so y'all have at some of the best fishing of the year !
Honestly this is the best late summer fishng I can Remember in a long time. I'm still catching lots of overs and big box fish and all are as healthy as ever !
I've been doing about half lure trips and half bait trips but honestly been talking most people into bait trips cuz live shad fishing right now is just awesome...lure fishing not so much. Hit and miss on the lures for sure, but ill post seperate info on each.
Bait fishng has been incredible the last few weeks. Fished my last day today and hammered em again on the northern orator those in between the railroad bridge and hwy 70. The fish are relating tight to under water structure. Both east and west banks near any point or steep drop fish will be stacked up.
Last three days on the east bank and week before west side..some days birds will show ya the way but even without them fish will be on or near the points and drops..last 5 trips I've been anchoring about 30-50 yards off the bank in 40-50 foot of water. And once targeted fish Under ya they just won't leave..even when ya want them to
There is a definite thermocline now rit at 40 feet so do not fish below that. No matter how deep of water your in fish are active at 24-30 feet...no deeper.baits will die almost instantly deeper than 50 feet.
Other productive bait fishing spots have been along the west wall south of Alberta creek and on the north east ledge of table top . Closer to mid lake , Mac creek has been good and some fish off the north island ledge..but for my number one pick its definitely between the bridges.
Baits is still easy to get early before sun up..all I can tell ya on that is tween 3-4 am I can get all I want in the river channels of most marinas and or big coves and creeks.
Been lots of bait back towards Simmons shores in little mineral and some in channel outside of Highport. On the north side I hear they've been getting it at the car bridge. I'm typically done by 4:30 am getting my bait so after that can't really say sure...but it's easy when I'm out there
Bait trips this week have been excellent..slow day of 40 fish and best day of 80. Once ya get on em they seem to be staying as Long as ya keep baits down..action has been excellent and almost as y y'all have at it this week and not catchem all before I get back
