Cool Cam! Where will it be located? I always thought it would be better to host the bigger tournaments out of two marinas on different ends of the lake. Could this be a possibility?

I'm sorry, guess I should have explained myself a bit better. By Lodge, I meant unit. (We have a 4bedroom/4bath unit we call the Texas Lodge). We are opening a 3bedroom/3bath addition sometime in October. We purchased the Onsite Trolling motor building after they folded up. The complete remodel has been under construction for about 2 months.

I saw that, it's gonna be nice thumb. I guess I'll have to eat some crow on saying it was not going to be a good year for big fish----guess what,, I was wrong.
Cam called me out, and I'm happy to say the lake is in great shape minus the grass, that by the way is coming back--thank God...

Right after Dan closed the Cove we looked at buying it as a family business.
40 + dry boat storage units, covered wet slips, trailer lot lease's, the motel (12-rooms), owners living quarters upstairs, the restaurant, and the best part, the ONLY bar on the water front.
The price was very good, draw backs were a ton of fixer up's, low water, septic haul off, finding non-drug user employee's, the long wait for liquor license..
We got cold feet on it, prolly a good thing looking back on it..
The potential is there, I didn't have the guts to give it a go..

I wondered what was going on with Jack's old shop. Now I know. LFM's 4br lodge is beautiful. If you have a group or family trip, I would highly recommend it.

Not trying to defend the people who tried to do Fishermans cove, but I know they lost well over a hundred thousand dollars and that was most of their life savings for a dream they wanted. That doesn't mean what they did was right or excuse. For sure it wasn't. But it might put a little perspective on why it may have happened. As I understand it the man is now in rehab and trying to turn his life around. People make mistakes, and it looks like they made their share. But God will be the final judge. Let any one of us without sin cast the first stone. Hopefully he will get better and be a better man when he comes out of rehab. FYI, he's not a personal friend of mine and I don't really know him or his wife well. I was just made aware of their situation by someone who is.

I've been in discussions with folks about building more boat storage around Fork and from what I am hearing about the demand for boat storage there, decline is by far not an issue. We are coming down tonight from Cooper to eat @ Oak Ridge....Some folks have mentioned alcohol consumption being part of the business structure. I would imagine that was the biggest reason they failed.

If their life savings was 100k and they somehow got their hands on this property, shame on the bank and shame on them for thinking that somehow they could cash flow a place like that on basically no money.

Pure negligence on many fronts if you ask me.

and then to pack up and leave everyone high and dry...its happened too many times on the lake.

All I would say is if you are planning on puting a trailer in a park - know who you are working with and make sure they have a solid business. These fly by nighters that come in and try and set up shop are a freaking joke. (anyone remember Froggys - same deal, left a bunch of folks high and dry).

Thank goodness for the smart ones like the team at Lake Fork Marina, the team at Oak Ridge and several other nice RV Park Owners...You may not get the best spot in the park if you chose a better one - but you will not have to worry about [censored] like this.
