what kind of line do you use on it? either the knot to the spool is slipping or if you are using braid it is not a tight on the spool allowing it to split.

I'm using 14lb test trilene. I don't think it's slipping but i will look into it. I think the clicker on the inside may have broke as it is a very cheap rod and reel combo. 20 bucks at academy so i honestly wasnt expecting much but only 1 month of use?? Kinda early i think. I'll look into it on my lunch break but i honestly do think i broke the clicker thing (not sure what its really called) the plastic end of the clicker is white like it used to have a piece there but it broke. i did not see anything else broken on the inside so i cant be sure Maybe a good excuse to go and buy a new reel lol

Most Shakespear reels, aren't worth much, but the rods that come in a lot of the combos are definitely worth what you pay for them.
I have a lot of more expensive reels that, even though the clicker works, you can't hear them for nothing anyways. I would suggest that you not worry to much about it, just get used to not having a clicker, and save up for a different reel.

I would try to get used to it but a lot of the time if i wanna set my pole down and set the drag loose so i can walk away safely i wouldnt even notice if i hook something. I dont know how many times i walk away to get a beer and i hear my drag start running i come back and catch me a nice fish lol. So my clicker noice is almost a must have for me lol. I was probably just going to fabricate a fix until i can afford a new reel.

I have a few live liners that are old and the clickers are just smack dab wore out. Even on free spool, the tip will move, just keep an eye on the tip.
I also put a couple "stripes" using bright nail polish on the spool, it is very easy to see it spin from a distance.

I like that nail polish idea, very helpful thanks!! Also, I found a reel i might get tomorrow but just wondering everyones thoughts on the value of it. It is a Shimano IX4000 RC Spinning Reel for only 13 bucks at academy. Wondering if it's that cheap for a good reason, it seems to have good reviews, any thoughts?? ABout the only thing in my price range lol http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_11369_-1__?N=273169066
