My boy has been dyeing to go on a fishing trip to the Brazos. We finally went and did 8 hours, he did great. He decided he wanted to catch an Alligator Gar on the way out, I brought Bass gear. Well I stopped to get some worms to catch Bluegill to use for bait. I don't have a clue how to catch gar. We paddle down a couple holes to a spot where they have bit crankbaits. I'm not feeling very optimistic about catching any. I catch a blue gill and make some cutbait. Not two minutes after his bobber hits the water I see a Longnose or Spotted Gar swim up to the bobber, next thing it takes off. WoW, this is awesome. He gets off. We had several hook ups and only brought one to the Yak where it got off yak side. We had a few runs that I was concerned about what to do if we get it to the Yak. It was fun. We caught a few Spotted Bass, Sunfish of all kinds and lots of Catfish. I might give this cutbait thing another try as it was fun. Best part is my buddy was asking this morning if we could go again today or tomorrow.

Awesome! My kid complains most of the trip. He expects to catch immediately at all times. He is use to being in my triton. I look forward to the time that my kid Is just excited to be on the water.... He is spoiled!!!!!

Thanks, he has been bass fishing enough that he knows fish are not always caught. Damn River Monsters for wanting to catch gar was my first thought, but I really enjoyed that trip and we will do it again soon. Im going to have to get him a yak now.
