I've had one attack a kingfish once, on another occasion I had a dolphin grab a king too. never know what's hungry down there.

Two weeks ago, a shark bit off half a croaker while fishing on Sabine lake. Several folks have had this happen and they hook the sharks sometimes. Appears to be bull sharks mostly.

I've seen that numerous times off shore with kings and a few times in the surf reeling in whiting. That's one of the great things about saltwater fishing, when you're reeling in just about any fish you're just fishing for something bigger.

was out deep sea fishing last year saw a guy bring up about a 20-30lb red snapper(Head only) haha he got the fish up off the bottom and the reel stoped dead and starting screaming drag got it up to about 50 ft under the boat and all you could see was the shadow of a big shark then snapped off the bottom hook/lead and left the top hook witch the snapper was hooked on and the head of the snapper haha

Had the same thing happen to me just off of San Luis Pass. Caught a good size jack and had two big tiger sharks chase it to the boat and cut in half
