i heard from a source that the water between lake lavon and ray hubbard is really good fishing, i was looking on google earth and it looks like a really curvy trip and if you wanted to take out you would have to paddle back up stream to the dam
do any of you guys have any experience with that water? if you do some tips would be appreciated

I have only fished those creeks during the sand bass and hybrid run. I know last week the water wasn't even trickling at the 78 bridge just south if the Lavon dam. I don't know of many put ins other than going off road there or closer to RH off 66 or Miller

A number of Honey Hole tv shows filmed fishing "up the river" on Hubbard. Skinny water for sure.

Drove over the 78 bridge this morning, skinny indeed. It holds a few sand bass during the run. Behind the dam would not be a very good choice to put in - ever. There's a wall at the highway, you would have to manually lift over.
The off road to get under the highway was not that bad the last time I did it, and that paddle back wouldn't be a problem unless they opened a gate, which isn't happening anytime soon.

I don't know how good it is right now but in the spring that place is a really awesome place for bass. Wear your polarized glasses and you can see the bass bedding. There are plenty of bowfin too. Even if you don't catch anything it's still a nice paddle. But that was during the spring.

You launch under the bridge. The water is VERY low now. I fished there a month ago and caught some bass, but there are a lot of obstacles and there is a tree across the river that is pretty much impassable about 1 mile downstream.
I fished in the river from my bassboat for 25 years, but it got too crowded in the last 10 years, and I quit going there.

Pretty Snakey this time of year. Think I saw 7 cottonmouths last time I was there.
Good fishing though, and make sure you bring some gloves or something to handle the bowfin in case you catch one.
