My boat is in my garage and I have two indoor only cats that sleep on the boat. One will catch the mice but plays with them instead of killing them, the other one will dang near kill the rodents and lizards and then bring them to the door as if to say HEY see what I caught!!

Ok. For the ones saying to get a cat. If I get a cat, how the heck is it supposed to get inside the shop to catch a mouse? If I leave it in the shop, the I've created another sh!tty problem. Will a cat just roaming around the outside of the building keep mice away?

This ^^

Be sure not to leave any trash like empty packeges of chips, cracker, nuts, etc. or you are definitely extending an invitation.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR!! We moved from wisconsin and mice would always work there way in when it got cold. Read a article in bassmaster years ago, and it said dillute apple cider vinegar with water, we used 100% apple cider vinegar and put in bug sprayer or we used a cheaper watering can. pour on bottom foot of foundation around trailer tires if outside. Did this about 1 a month problem solved. It works GREAT!!

mice and rats come and go. I live in the country, sometimes there are a few that mess with you for a bit, then you might not see any for quite some time maybe years. The best way to protect your stuff is to get some protecta boxes such as the ones you see around resturaunts,(black boxes) and refresh the bait once every couple months.

remember, its always better to feed the mice outside of your structure. baiting inside the place with no mice present will attract them to the inside and they will be more likely to die in there and stink the place up for no good reason.

The bait you buy at the hardware stores aint that fresh. after it sits around for a month its useless. having fresh bait is the key.

If you have alot of junk and clutter around (or your neighbors do) it makes a great place for them rats to live.

Home remedies are great when there arent any mice around (lol)otherwise they are worthless.

and get some cats? hell no. free running cats will bring flea problems EVERY TIME!

I once knew a guy that had ten cats in his house. I went to visit him. I said Ten cats? wow! it only smells like five.
