I'm thinking August is the worst month for bank fishers, would you agree? I have been out a couple time and had a couple bites but not really worth my time. Waiting on the cooler weather...

This summer has been brutal with a lot of days above 100 degrees. This heat has em scattered for sure. Usually have the best luck during the early morning bite. I am usually off the water by 11am. August is a very slow month for me. fish

August is good for sunfish. Up here I've found the hotter the better for them.

I would totally agree, August is hard fishing, cast n move is the only way, never more than 15 min without a "good" bite

August has been tough. But not as bad for me. Most of my biggest fish of this year have came in August. And I caught them at the hottest part of the day.

I catch some pretty nice fish during the summer months. I mainly target Sunfish however I have also picked up some super Bass and Cats, along with a Gar or two. So far the month of August has been pretty good. Days when the sky is overcast are the best. Also I usually fish during the summer between 6am and 11am or from 6pm till dark. The fish seem lazy and not as active during the heat of the day. Just my two cents. 2cents

This year, August has been tough for me. I've been targeting just bass this month and that's why it been so tough for me. I normally fish for whatever is biting. Time to go after some bluegills with an ultralight!

This has been my best month but I fish small ponds full of bass, but patterns have been harder to identify.

Usually the only time I fish from shore is when I go out alone, and I have had some good and bad days just like everyone else, but this August heat is killin me...

from the shoreline I am lucky to get a couple fish lately, but out on my boat we are still doin pretty well... I am gonna have to chalk that up to having access to areas with less fishing pressure

I hate the month of August.
Inconvenient things always happen for me in August.

This month: Truck breaks down and I need to get the engine rebuilt. The loaner car I have just broke down as well.

Last year: Inattentive driver hit my truck. Took 4 months to get his insurance company to fix it.

Year before: Lowlife hacked into my bank account. Took several weeks to get my money back.

I stop fishing hard about the time the snakes are out. End of may or so. Then I start back up when there is a nice cool front Late August or September. And yes there are plenty of snakes this time of year, but the grasses are thinned out due to the heat. Its hard to see the snakes late spring due to the new grasses and such. So... I would say....July. Cuz just to darn hot, and there is no crappie worth chasing. I went out yesterday an did pretty good. CRAPPIE! And one big hybrid. Today there was a big ditch pickle, but that was it.
Here is my catch from 8/17/2013.

yup same here. In general it's been really tough, BUT there was a 1-2 day period about a week ago when it cooled down for a bit and i caught my biggest bass ever off a topwater frog, was about 5.5lbs

August has been brutal on me when I target bass, can't find the right bait and presentation to get a bite... When I take the kids out live bait will catch something right at dusk. I can't wait for cooler water temps! (Have been fishing off the bank)
