Hey guys, looking to go to lake austin during the week. My brother is retired military and I wanted to put him on some fish for a day. I haven't fished lake austin in a while, seems my best bet right now. Anybody know what ramp is best right now? how is the water level? Looking for numbers to stretch a line on just a fun day fishing trip. Flukes and senkos were my baits before and punching grass later in the day, still working? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Last time I was up there was about 2 weeks ago. We fished at night with just enough bites to keep it fun, Plus a 7.5 to boot. Find healthy grass where you can (the carp are doing a job on the vegetation) and fish it every way you know how until you hit a pattern that works. All ramps that I know of are fine.

I was out there with my brother while he was on leave from the Army about 2 weeks ago. We put in at quinlan both mornings, and had the most success with top water baits early on fishing north of the ramp. Good luck out there.

Punching bite has been off all summer. The dissappearing hydrilla has a lot to do with that. Topwaters, frogs and flukes early and then slow down with a senko.

I would put in an Quinlan. You could spend all day fishing within a mile of that ramp in either direction and do well for yourself.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the tips on Austin, we caught 7 fish and could have weighed 16 lbs, big fish was just over 6. Great day and look forward to going back. Frog and spook ruled the day with a 3 pounder coming off a boy howdy (my favorite bait of all time). Thanks again!!
