Well, to be fair. This is a white amur aka grass carp. Not the common carp that are a naturalized species in our man made lakes.
Ray Bob hasn't had a stocking of grass carp by the state as far as I can remember so killing it is what is required by law.
That said this one looks to be around 30- 40lbs or so I have seen a few up there that probably go 70lbs+
The Carp weighed 74lbs on certified scales we thought we had a lake record but it was 4lbs off the record.

Maybe the same way they got into Tyler. Waterfront homeowners complain and the City does everything it can to please them. Homeowners complained about the grass, they introduced carp, and now they are ruining the lake. Also, did you know the City of Tyler has banned bow-fishing on Tyler because the homeowners complained about the lights and noise from the generators.

I wonder how it got in the lake? Lake Kiowa has them and I know of at least one private lake in the area that has them.

Nice! Only good grass carp is a dead grass carp.
What these waterfront owners don't realize is that when you introduce these invasive carp into the lake and let them eat all the grass, the water gets more murky because there isn't the grass to filter the water. Then they get mad because the water is muddy. You can't fix dumb.

This never ends well, but what makes you guys feel that way? These SOBs can eat their weight in vegetation every day. It seems that every body of water they are in turns into a disaster especially when they are stocked. They are never stocked in numbers that will control problem vegetation. If 20 per acre will take care of the problem, then they put in 100 per acre. A year later you have a barren lake. Just ask any veteran of Lake Conroe fishing.

How about we put a bounty on them? IMO - They are more destructive to the environment than Wolves / Coyotes! +1

buffalo carp isnt it? bow fishing is always good on ray roberts. just so we all learn something out of this. there is no such animal as a "buffalo carp" A buffalo is a native fish to Texas, (native means they have always existed in Texas, GOD PUT THEM IN TEXAS) They are a member of the Catostomidae family or "sucker fish" a totally different fish then a common carp or grass carp. They are most easly identified by the lack of barbels or "whiskers" and the down turned mouth. A "Common Carp" is not a Native Fish to Texas but may be considered a "naturlized fish" as it has found a home in our man made non-native lakes so go ahead and group it, in with all the other fish GOD DID NOT PUT IN TEXAS LIKE THE FLORIDA STRAIN LARGE MOUTH BASS, WHITE BASS, HYBRID BASS, TROUT, WALLEYE AND CHANNEL CATFISH...Our Govt. took it upon themselfs to stock carp and all the above mentioned fish for our angling and eating pleasure. The frist freshwater fish hatchery for any species in Texas was dedicated to breeding and stocking common carp to move around the state it was established in Austin Texas on Barton Springs in or around 1881. This is a Common carp, pictured with a common carp that lacks a normal scale pattern known as a mirror carp they are the same fish note the color and the barbels aka whiskers... FINALLY the dead fish you see in the picture is what I would prefer everyone call a WHITE AMUR COMPARING A WHITE AMUR TO A COMMON CARP IS LIKE CALLING A BLUEGILL A BASSCASE IN POINT... This is a really nice "Sunfish" it's not a member of the "true bass" family its in the sunfish family These are also really nice sunfish, same family of fish as the sunfish above...
