Lately my 997 has been losing it's GPS. It always works when the unit is first turned on but it'll stop working after a while. Turning the unit off then on again and it'll always come back. Anyone else have this issue?

make sure the molex plug is tight that connects the gps and the pigtail from the unit, then tape it secure with electrical tape.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I have a 597 that does the same thing. Mine has an internal receiver. I contacted Hummingbirds customer service via e-mail but haven't gotten an answer yet, other than the auto reply that says they will reply.

Can you test the 997c on another receiver? Sometimes things happen.

It's always best to call HB Customer Service to get the fastest support 800-633-1468

I had same problem losing GPS on a 997 that was linked to a 797 on the bow. Called humminbird and they told me to switch connections at the interlink to see if I lost GPS on the 797. I did this and they both GPS worked fine and have not had the GPS go off on either one of them since and that was Nov. 2012.
Still don't know what caused the problem.
