Anybody out there have a secret to fisk DK's or the likes with a circle or J hook, i am not a fan of treble hooks, especially in cover.

Well if ya don't like trebles don't use punchbait, its hard enough to keep on trebles

Yep. You'll miss way more fish than you catch.

It's gunna tough to use punch bait on a j hook. Maybe try chicken liver, or something like that. It's easier to keep on a j hook. Or good ole night crawlers.

Team catfish secret seven dip bait can be used with circle or j hooks. They use a tube which slides over the hook and holds the bait.

I bought some j hooks that were made for punch bait as they had a spring like wire wrapped around them.Seemed to worked ok.I think I got them at Wal-Mart, it's been a while back.

Well a furry thing and j hook like an eagle 84 or 42 would probably work fine, but when using punch bait or dip bait you need to have the option of crossing his eyes when he's biting. You don't have that option with a circle hook. But to each their own.

Could you add some kind of liquid to the bait and then use a sponge?

I picked this up from a YouTube video. Those felt hat cleaning sponges work well. I use dip bait with them on kahle/circle hooks and don't have too many issues.

There are times when the hook-up rate could be better but also times when every hit they get hooked. I wouldn't mind using trebles but I'm apparently terrible with them and the fish ends up getting loose.

Getting out later, might rig up one pole with a treble and see if I can do any better.
