Let me guess? You are a Phoenix owner right?

I own a Ranger and rode in a Phonenix 921. I consider both when I bought this last time and I believe I would have been happy with either boat, I got a little worried about buying a boat from a new company. I will say this thread tells you a lot about Phoenix, the fact that people will compare the two together says a lot. They are very similar in most aspects. the Ranger still has fit ,finish, and resale. The Phoenix is real close on being a stable fishing platform it has a better lay out, IMO, and the removable console is real nice. The Price is about 59,000 with HDS 10's and power poles. The Ranger will be about 67,000 rig the same way. I would think if you are going to buy the boat and keep for at least five years buy either if you are going to resale in five years buy the Ranger at this time. I don't think it will take Phoenix to many years to close the gap on resale, it is a great boat. IMO

I've never had a Ranger but I have a 921. Its a pretty gang good boat. I started fishing Rayburn and its a big boat lake and its done really good so far. Its seems to be very well made. It's really stable running though boat wakes and etc.

I like it.

Thanks, Billy

No...any other questions . To think both boats are good. Your statement about the 40 yrs says nothing.

I have own several boats in my life 3 have been rangers , I have two very close friends that own a Phoenix I have fish in both of them several times and drove them both I think the ride is close but when you drop the trolling motor IMHO the ranger will out fish them all .With that said the Phoenix is a very pretty boat texas

I'm personally a Phoenix owner and couldn't be happier. As for the customer service its second to none. The guys talking about how they don't know anything about Phoenix because they haven't been around that long. Gary Clouse has been in the industry a very long time and worked for years with different companies such as Stratos, Genmar, and Triton. So with that said I would say that he has some idea about how to build a quality boat that would not be compared to a Kia. It's all personal preference in my opinion for any boat owner, what fits one person may not fit the next. But as far as Phoenix is concerned it is my fit and will be for years to come.

I run a Skeeter and have been in and drove Ranger and Phoenix just spent the last 5 days on Toledo Bend in a Phoenix 920 Pro XP and let me tell you that is the sweetest boat I have rode and fished out of hands down.

I have owned 2 Rangers and have ridden in a lot of them. The Z521 has the best ride of all of the Rangers IMHO.
Resale value I would say Ranger would be your best choice but you will have probably 12% to 15% more invested up front than on a Phoenix.
I know a couple of guys who own Phoenix and they love them but I have not personally driven one.
When shopping for Rangers you owe it to yourself to give Terry Rose at Outdoor Specialties a call.
Good luck in your decision, I do not think you would be disappointed with either purchase.

I fished with Chad Moganthaler in his Phoenix 721 and I really liked it. I haved fished out of Rangers before...but I was really impressed with the way that boat rode! If I was in the market for a boat I would take a really hard look at Phoenix...the way everything was laid out was just incredible...JMO

I am running a Ranger Z520 and love it. I haven't fished a Phoenix, have only seen them. Nice boat. Fish both, decide for yourself. But Rangers will hold their value much better for resale and your full coverage insurance is much less on a Ranger than any other boat out there. Going from an 18' Skeeter to a 20' Ranger that is worth twice the value, my insurance dropped $250 from $650/yr to $400. The boat will not sink! 2 separate occasions I have forgotten to put the plug in and fished all day without before realizing. Hull filled up but the water never even made it past the drain in the floor of the boat! Love my Ranger!

I don't know how you can compare a brand that's built a reputation and strong, loyal customer base over 40+ years to a new boat brand.

Yes, you can argue about features and whatnot, but when I'm spending near $70K, I want to be able to look at past performance, customer service, and resale...and not just over the last 12 months. A 10 year old Ranger is still a desirable boat that holds fair value. Compare that to a 10 year old Champion (the boat Rangers used to be compared to) - oh wait, you can't shop for a new Champion - they don't exist any more.

Let's have this juvenile argument in 10 years if your brand is still around. Ranger will be.

Phoenix is here to stay guys and all I can say is go ride in one the layout is awesome we fished Toledo Friday night it was choppy we got back to the camp and everyone asked if we stayed out and ran we said yes why they said yall are nuts everyone else turned around and went back honestly we didn't think it was that bad but it must have been. I cant wait to see what it can do in bad water that 920 is a solid boat and cuts water better than anything I have ever rode in.
