I've been a one week per year Flyfisher for about tens years. All my fishing has been for trout in rivers and I have not worked on my casting in the downtime. I'm sure I have picked up several bad habits that need to be broken.

I'd like to take some casting lessons in Houston. I'd rather not just go to anyone. Another consideration is cost. There seems to be a wide disparity of cost per hour with different instructors. I'd also like to take several lessons so I can learn to double haul.

My wife might join me for awhile. She fishes 1/10 as much and is a better caster. frown

Please suggest Houston instructors.

Thanks Much

What part of Houston? There are several good instructors in the area that I've worked with in the past and can recommend.

Ken Cole in the Woodlands area. He is one of the folks that helped me learn to cast. His contact information is listed on the Federation of Fly Fishers web site.

Rex - I'm at I-10 and Gessner near Memorial City. I'm happy to drive for the right instructor.

You can go east on I-10 to Fishing Tackle Unlimited and talk to the fly guys. A couple are certified instructors. In the galleria area, their is Anglers Edge.

I'll third Ken. He's a great instructor and a really nice guy. If I could afford lessons he's who I'd go to. I've spent some time casting with him and we've been trying to get together for a little sightcasting to some reds.

Ken's the man, and he'll even give you some help on tactics.
