Got my wife excited about the cool temps in NW AR this week (upper 70's)and scheduled a trip to go fish the Kings River. That trip is blown up now as all the rivers in AR are flooded. Looks like the next best thing is Beaver Lake.
From the internet it looks promising. I see guides up there touting the last two state records coming from there. Lot's of pics on the websites of 40 lb + fish.
Sure could use some insight if any of you guys have fished that lake in the summer. Who knows, maybe I can come back with a nice picture or a big fish that got away story.

In early October 2011 we hired a guide for a family reunion. The guide advertises to be a contributor to In-Fisherman magazine and TV. Four of us plus the guide. Not one fish, not even a bite. In the guide's defense, the lake may have been turning over at the time. It does appear to be a good summertime lake, according to website pictures. It's a beautiful, clear water lake. If you go, I hope you catch a bunch!

Hey PK, I have not fished it yet but I do follow a forum up there. It is very limited on content but it does have some water level info that is current. I have noticed Arkies are pretty tight lipped when it comes to the fishing. http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/forum/56-beaver-lake/I hope its ok to post the link, if not be assured I will not do it again. I live a couple of hours away from Beaver and frankly it is the closest stiper fishing too me. I plan on going up there early next year. If it goes well I may try to fish it several times next year. From what I understand the numbers of fish are not anything like Texoma but the ones you do catch are nice. It has a size limit on it and I think it is pretty restrictive. I have a trip planned on Ouachita September the 27th. It is a great lake as well and my buddy has a place on it we can stay for free at. I am stoked about going. By the way this is my first post so howdy fellows. I feel like I already know a lot of you folks since I been following this section of the site daily since March.

Thanks for the reply. I am Thinking about trying Ouachita this fall. Lots of reports of huge numbers of 20 lb stripers at that lake.
