Had fuel delivery problems but fixed all that & bulb is now staying firm---Starts fines, idles fine & runs fine up to around 10mph (will do 30 when running right on my pontoon) but then bogs down? I can throttle down before it dies & it'll idle fine & go again at slow speed-if it dies it'll start right back up.
Compression is good & equal on all 4 cyl-
Cleaned carbs
New fuel pump
New tank
New bulb & fuel line
------
Coil failing under load maybe??
Don't know how to check that & can't think of anything else to do bang

Make shure the advance is not sticking or the plastic retainer hasn't broken causing the timing base not to move.

you may have a power pack goin bad, lost one side on my 82 175 and it would only idle and run about 2000 rpm before trying to die, back to idle and it was fine.

Anyway to check without "special" tools?

A spark tester. Stick your little finger in the sparkplug boot and if it shocks you. NO not really or. Remove one sparkplug wire at a time while running check all for spark by using a phillips screw driver stuck in the boot holding the metal of the screw driver close to metal while motor turning over.
