Find a willow that has fallen over peep. Tie 2-3 haydite concrete blocks to it and sink it.

I keep a hand saw in the boat. If I see a tree that would look better on the bottom of the lake I pull up, cut it down, tie it to the side of the boat with the top of the tree or limb facing the front of the boat. Then you just back up until you are in your desired depth and untie the tree from the boat and tie on a couple of rocks. This may or may not be legal depending upon the governing body of the lake.

Ya some wardens are serious about it. Had one at twak sneak in on me moving and sinking a big laydown log and just crawled all over my arse. But mainly because I cut it free. I guess wma and sp rules say not to cut trees..which I would think is more for sp fores than what I was doing...just watch what u do.
Use willow branches first, if not available other stuff works.. arrange em in whatever figuration u want based on water depth, location, and other existing cover around it.. concrete em into 5gal buckets and drop em where they need to be.
When I first started doing piles I didn't have alor of success cus my thinking was to draw fish to where I wanted to fish.. now I try to put em where crappie should want to be.. off points, drop offs, channels or other likely structure areas.

5 gallon bucket, 60lbs of sacrete, and 13 stalks of bamboo 10' long.

Do this over and over again until you get the desired result.

Add a good gps and depth finder.

That will result in more crappie than you care to clean.

How I've done it for years. And they last a lot longer than willow limbs

Craig's list is a good place to start. Check with governing agency of your local water body on laws and restrictions. Not an issue to Game Wardens. Corp of Engineers is very serious about it though, especially if you cut down a cypress.

The corps of engineers aren't real happy about folks cutting down any types of trees along the shoreline either. We didn't talk about taking a few branches.

There was a "condo craze" here a few years back where PVC and/or other plastics were in vogue in building "brush piles." Here was a thread we had some fun with. I think the pics are gone, but the condo was a crazy wad of PVC.
the $500 condo thread

I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

Bamboo Condos 3 or 5 gallon bucket, 2/3rd of a 60 pound sack of secrete and about 10 to 12 sticks of bamboo with or without stems & leaves. Use plastic slip ties to keep the bamboo in place around the side of the bucket before pouring the secrete. Position them where the tops will flair out. Insert more sticks in the middle of the bucket after pouring.

The condos in the picture are 8 feet tall and placed in 14 to 16 feet of water. We also make them 4 to 5 feet tall and place them 8 to 12 feet of water.

We drop 3 to 6 condos per location.

How do you fish the bamboo ? If the fish are holding around the
bucket( 1-2 ft off bottom) how do you present a jig?

Do you use weedless jig head or stay hung up all the time?

Weedless jigheads for sure. I have a friend in Kentucky that pours me 100 at a time. The only time you will get hung up is when you set the hook on The wrong thing.....
