My point..all along has nothing to do w that, nor does it dispute that. What I a d I believe some others were saying is that were catching some females NOW, bot fall or winter...with eggs. Now is not fall nor winter is it? U keep saying the same thing and its not adding up to anything really. We all know they have eggs in fall and winter. Whats surprising is the few that have had big dark egg sacks in July, august...which lends itself to the theory of a fall spawn. Which may or may not occur...Idk. what I do know, and have stated is that ive caught females that look to be further along in egg development than those I normally see with eggs in winter. Maybe its you that needs to wake up because I fully understand what u are saying, and it neither proves nor disproves anything. People who do this for a living, study fish habits and what not even say that st times it can happen. Why are u still arguing it? I'm done, better things to do than this

Just show me fully developed eggs in the summer or fall.
That's all ask. Until then I will continue to disbelieve.

You said 8 months not me. If they spawn in the fall, well lets see them fully developed egg sacks.

Nobody can prove either way. If you look hard enough you can find information supporting, or sort of supporting, either side of the claim. So why not drop it and just go fishing. Good grief these trolling threads are getting boring.

If they are going to spawn in the summer or the fall, I would assume that the females would look like these females did when they were ready to spawn last spring. I have not seen him provide any proof of this full blown summer/fall spawn.

[quote=Sprint286]Spawning takes place from mid-March to mid-May, beginning when water tem peratures reach 60F and peaking between 68 and 72F. Crappie spawn in one to six feet of water, usually in the backs of protected coves, shallow island areas, under overhanging banks, on or near flooded brush and timber, or near sub merged vegetation. They usually nest in colonies and females may spawn more than once.
I'm pretty sure they mean twice in the spring. Releasing eggs a few week apart. I figured that too, but this thread is for fun. [/quote if you believe crappie only spawn to 6 feet of water, you will learn a whole lot if you fish spring in texas. white crappie can spawn in 14 feet of water if they need to. the clearer the water the deeper they spawn. You know what, back in the day the Linder's use to get under water cameras and jump in the lake and go see what is up. I think someone needs to get Ketchn some scuba gear and we will know in a year or two what is up.

theres a show on now called, HOOK AND LOOK. That is exactly what they do. they scan with sonar, then fish, then dive in and video what is actually under water.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

seems the fisheries folks tell me its not impossible ,,,, unlikely it would be very many fish doing this , but it could be possible in isolated circumstances .... I was also told that 3 inch crappie in the water in late December could very well be just slow growing fish ..... interesting conversation to say the least ....

Those state folks......I will say my experience with fisheries biologist has been very positive. Of course trying to find a fisherman without an opinion is comparatively equal to a gun store owner. Or my barber!
