Hey fool jigging, take a pic of eggs that are developed that fully, this time of the year. I am sure it's safe to say we have all seen eggs starting to develop in the fall. The egg development phase starts in the fall then and continues to develop all winter long, until spawn in the spring.
So how many days is it from when you first start seeing eggs develop in the fall till the spawn in the spring? If you have fished long enough you should have noticed that is around 6 mounts + or -. Makes it tough for a second spawn in the fall, especially without the males being involved.
You have missed the point totally.
I hope to see your picture of your next female crappie with eggs soon, it will be intersting to see how developed they are this time of the year. If you don't post a pic? I will understand that you now understand my point.

I did not catch one female crappie with eggs, nor did I catch one male with spearm sacks today either.
I will start keeping records including egg weights throughout the egg development cycle this fall till spring when the spawn occurs.

What "state" is reporting they have water bodies with ALOT of lakes having crappie grow 10" inches in one year?
Maybe Discovery should do a whole week on Crappie: "Rogue White Perch", "Crappiezilla", "Crappie Apocalypse", "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water!!!"
Crappie, the other white meat!

I saw zero evidence of eggs in any of the many fish caught today.

Crappies for the most part remain abundant in the face of sustained fishing pressure from lots of avid anglers. And while we might all like to catch bigger crappies, most are eating-size, so its not a critical concern. Moreover, attempts to improve the size structure of crappie populations with regulations have met with little success. Crappie spawning and recruitment have long been perplexing as well, but as long as theyre not scarce, we tend to let nature take its course.
Crappie Biology Early in the last century, specialists in fish behavior mapped out the basic life history of our two crappie species, noting differences in behavior in reservoirs and shallow lakes, and among waterways at various latitudes. Descriptions of spawning behavior and prey preferences also were conducted, establishing the baseline of information we rely on when planning fishing strategies. Yet, new findings continue.
Spawning Schedule: It all starts with the spawn and readers near southern waters can look for top action this month. But did you know that crappies have been known to switch-hit and spawn in fall?
Over the years, wed heard reports of bass and crappies spawning in fall, but this had never been scientifically documented until biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found small juvenile crappies in their fall sampling at Orange Lake. Curious about their origin, they collected more samples and aged the young fish by looking at the daily growth rings on their otoliths.
( the above contents came from in fisherman contents as stated, the below statement comes from the study of 20 different Universities and the United States Gov., as well as TPWD )Arranged in my short hand words though.
The normal spawn is between the last of February and early May, here in Texas by geographic region Gov. reports and independent university studies show that both species of females can produce multiple egg sacks per year depending upon water levels, moon-phase,temperature and habitat.Controlled water studies for commercial purpose's ie. food source production have showed repeated reproduction in the white crappie that obtains the fastest growth rate.multiple spawns aren't the norm.,but who'd a thunk we'd had upper 70 deg.and lower 80 deg. days in July this year?

So were now gona debate that Texas is not a southern state?? Lmao you can't let it go can u man?? More than a few of us here have caught crappie w eggs in em during summer months...yet u want it proved to u just because u haven't. I frankly couldn't care less if u believe it, or don't. Not about to get on your level, and go out of my way to prove u wrong when I know what I've seen time and again. Looks like I'm not the only one seen it to. So maybe one of them cares enough about what u think to prove it to u bud. Personally I ain't got the time to fool with it

We all catch females with eggs that are developing! The egg development process is long, fall thru winter and then the spawn occurs in the spring. Start docementing the egg development starting now! And you will learn! Geeez!
